Thsi is a very rare 1933 japanese military exercise badge. I think this might be one of the most sought after badges that appears ni the excellent book, in the name of a living god. This was in my own collection, and i've only ever had another, and that was about 3 years ago. Teh front has planes in the sky with a searchlight on them, men wearing gas masks with a machine gun pointing at the planes. The kanji on the front reads shiba (an area in tokyo). The back reads shibaku bougoudan daienshu kinen (shiba ward defense large maneuvers) & showa 8 nen 8 gatsu (august, 1933). According to the book this is made of soild silver. The weight is just over 17 grams. It measures 40 mm from top to bottom. The condition is excellent. I've taken amny photos with different backgrounds, you can see just how nice it is.
