Great Ww2 Japanese Samurai Sword Katana Signed GendaitoThis is a great gendaito in roiginal civilian ww2 mounting. The condition of the blade is excellent without any damages such as rust, chips, bends, pittings or cracks.
Blade has razer sharp cutting edge and crisp line. The wavy hamon is very bold and thick which rises almost to the ridge line along the cutting edge to the tip on both sides. The beautiful tight hada (metal forging grain) can clearly be seen all over the blade in various forms. Tang signed on one side with no satmps or markings. This is an extremely high quality hand floded blade with water tempered edge.
The metal fittings of this sword is very unique and si not commonly seem. It is in tachi style and possibly made in the early showa period if not earlier and it was definitely custom made for some special officer. Blade measures 26.5 from tip to guard and overall lenght of sword is 39. Handle is 10 long with large node ray skin under the original lbue binding. Wooden field scabbard is lacquered in black and covered by original brown leather. Sword is very well balanced and feels good to handle. Overall it is a very beautiful and interesting hand made sword form war time period and will be great in any collection.Will ship world wide except africa.
